Ad and Premium revenue (today)
| Path | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Long-form | 1,000 subscribers + 4,000 qualified watch hours in the last 12 months |
| Shorts | 1,000 subscribers + 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days |
Watch time from Shorts viewed in the Shorts feed doesn't count toward the 4,000 hours. Neither do private, unlisted, or deleted videos, or ad campaigns. Your channel also can't have active Community Guidelines strikes, and a human team reviews the channel as a whole.
What changes on February 1, 2027
- New applicants will need 8,000 watch hours in the last 365 days or 20 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.
- If you're already in YPP, you won't be removed.
- To earn from the Shorts revenue pool in a given month, you'll need to maintain 10 million qualified Shorts views over the last 90 days.
Takeaway: if you're close to today's threshold, apply before February 1, 2027.
Entry tier: fan funding and Shopping
The lower tier stays the same: 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 watch hours in 365 days or 3 million Shorts views in 90 days. It unlocks channel memberships, Super Chat & Super Stickers, Super Thanks, and YouTube Shopping, but not ad revenue. It is only available in some countries (expanded YPP overview).
